Small Farm Seed Money
What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. In this model the customer pays at the beginning of the season for flowers or vegetables in exchange for receiving a share of the harvest. The CSA allows the farmer some financial security, the ability to market her produce at a less busy time of year, and an influx of cash at the beginning of the season to pay for supplies. In return customers develop a relationship with the farmer and usually receive more than they paid for.

We love the CSA model at Small Farm. It gives us the security to take good care of our fields, employees, and selves.

Pick your own bouquets of summer flowers every week, right from our flower field!

Beginning in mid-July, enjoy picking two quarts of bouquets each week, for 10 weeks between July and the frost! We are planting classics such as zinnias, snapdragons, cosmos, and verbena, as well as more unusual flowers such as Cape Daisy and Icelandic poppies.

Shares are $150 for the 2018 season. This will save you $1.00/quart!

(The Pick-Your-Own flower field will still be open to all! Occasionally there may be specific blooms reserved for CSA members. Signing up for the CSA gives you a small discount, and helps us get the field planted.)

The Fall CSA ($160.00 for a full share) is the best way to keep eating Small Farm vegetables into December! Shareholders receive four biweekly distributions of fresh greens and hardy storage crops in November and December.

Additionally, a CSA ensures you get your favorite vegetables and get to try something new! As one of our previous CSA customers said, “Thank you both so much for your extraordinary CSA. It's made my week. I haven't cooked in YEARS and now I am.” Signing up for a CSA will encourage you to eat healthy, and cook at home! You make a financial commitment to the farmer and a health commitment to yourself!

Example of one week’s share: 2 lbs apples, 1 bag spinach, 2 heads of lettuce, 2 lbs potatoes, 1 bunch of parsley, 2 lbs of carrots, 3 heads of garlic, 1 bunch of kale, 1 bunch of chard, 1 butternut squash

Choose a pick up day:

Friday (November 2, November 16, November 30, December 14) 2 pm - 6 pm or

Saturday (November 3, November 17, December 1, December 15)  2 pm - 6 pm

If a full share feels daunting, sign up for a half-share (half the quantity of each vegetable) or sign up with a friend!

What happens if you’re unable to pick up your share?

Send a friend or neighbor to pick up a share for you. We are happy to accommodate—we want you to get your veggies! If your share is not picked up on the day you've signed up for, we will donate your share to a local food rescue program.

This spring we are taking on higher operating costs than in years past as we start our new business.  Help us pay for spring season start-up costs! This spring we are offering Small Farm Seed Money.

Customers can sign up before June 1, purchase $300 Small Farm Seed Money, and receive $315 store credit to use during the season at the farm stand.  That's just under $20 of produce per week for the 17 weeks we'll be open! We'll keep track of your credit at the stand. Small Farm Seed Money may be used to purchase anything on sale at the farm stand. It may not be used to purchase a PYO Flower CSA or Fall CSA share.

At the end of the season, we will invest any unused store credit into the farm. It will not roll over to 2019.

Many of our past customers have asked how they can invest in our new business venture. Signing up for Small Farm Seed Money is a great way to support the farm!
